Gun slinging, alcohol gulping, gold stealing, and horse riding are all the basis of the west in film. The film media may portray the wild West a bit more ‘rough’ than actually was. Although in real life there was outlaws, robbers, and convicts, every day was not a gun sling in the West. The ability to ‘draw’ (pull one’s gun out of a holster into the starting position) was highly regarded in the West. The film has expanded the west quite strategically throughout time. Marketing this period in time is one of the most common things Hollywood and the film industry does. Many find the film versions of the West to be a bit far fetched, but at times mostly entertaining. Although It wasn’t as wild in the West as movies make it seem, the West was still a rough place.
